TWO (2) POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS
Laboratoire de Psychologie Sociale et Cognitive, Clermont-Ferrand (France)
The Laboratory for Social and Cognitive Psychology (LAPSCO) at the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, is seeking to appoint two Post-Doctoral Research Associates to work on group polarization and ideological extremism. This is part of an international and interdisciplinary research project involving prominent researchers in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany and France. Our societies are polarizing in central political and social attitudes. Observers and scientists alike failed to anticipate the outcomes of the Brexit-referendum, the election of Donald Trump, or the rise of populist parties in many European countries. Research is needed to better understand the complex link between micro-processes of social influence and their societal macro-outcomes.
Each position will consist of a full-time fellowship starting in September 2019 or soon after for a minimum of 9 months. Funding is also available for research and travel.
The project is funded by an Open Research Area (ORA) Funding Scheme Research Grant, which is led by Pr. Serge Guimond (LAPSCO-CNRS) in collaboration with Ass.Prof. Armelle Nugier (LAPSCO-CNRS).
The postdoctoral fellow’s primary tasks will be to coordinate empirical studies (mostly laboratory experiments), analyze data and prepare research reports.
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in psychology (or in related science domains) that was obtained during the last three years. Applicants should have a strong background in experimental social psychology and have a track record of conference presentations and publications. Moreover, excellent data analysis skills (e.g., factor analysis, moderation and mediation analyses in Multiple Regression, Structural Equation Modelling, Multilevel Modelling) and working knowledge of English (French is a plus but not requested) are required for the position. Knowledge of agent-based computational modeling in an asset.
Interested candidates should send their application to (armelle.nugier@uca.fr) and Serge Guimond (serge.guimond@uca.fr). Curriculum Vitae and an application letter detailing your motivation, the interest, and the names and e-mails of three experts who will provide letter upon request. Applications can be in either English or French.
Closing date for applications : 15 April 2019 (12.00 am)
